Tree Removal (Beech Tree)
Project Overview
Top Garden Services was commissioned by a Suffolk parish council to remove a mature Beech tree located within a churchyard. The tree had been showing signs of decline, including poor leaf colour and a thinning canopy, raising concerns about safety due to its proximity to historic grave markers and a frequently used public footpath.
Given the sensitive nature of the site, the work required careful planning and skilled execution to avoid disruption or damage.
Our Approach
We carried out a detailed risk assessment and planned the work in line with BS3998:2010 Tree Work Recommendations.
Our process included:
- Sectional dismantling by qualified climbers
- Use of rigging techniques to lower branches safely
- Protection of headstones, pathways, and surrounding ground
- Scheduling work around church service times and public use
All waste was removed from the site and recycled where possible. We maintained clear communication with the parish council throughout the process.

The Result
- Tree removed without damage to memorials or footpaths
- Public area made safe with minimal disruption
- Improved appearance of the churchyard
- Waste fully cleared and site left clean
- A satisfied council client with safety concerns addressed
